Parent Email 3/5: Getting Ready For St. Patrick's Day!

We're just a little more than a week away from the WIPP St. Patrick's Day Parade and we've been doing lots to get ready! We're still looking for a couple of trailers to use with our 3s. If you or anyone you know has a flatbed trailer with low sides that we can borrow for the morning, please let me know. (We can find a vehicle with a hitch to pull if you don't want to be a driver!)

*Our parade day, Wednesday, March 14th, is not a regular school day. WE WILL NOT HAVE EARLY BIRDS, CARPOOL, OR LUNCH BUNCH. Parents will bring students to school no later than 9:00 so that everyone is outside and ready to roll by 9:10. Your child's teacher will let you know whether you should drop your child in the front parking lot or in the classroom. We’ll follow the same route as in the past: leaving the front parking lot; going down to May Howard's carpool driveway; proceeding down to the traffic circle for the students at May Howard; then returning via the same route. Children will be dismissed to their parents at about 9:45-10:00 immediately following the parade.

*Our 2s join the parade in wagons/strollers pushed/pulled by a parent. Our 3s ride in decorated trailers (If you or anyone you know has a trailer/truck we can borrow, please let me know!) Our 4s march! Everyone is invited to wear green. If you ordered a WIPP St. Patrick's Day shirt, we'll send them home as soon as they arrive.

If you have a golf cart or some other kind of interesting vehicle that you'd like to decorate and add to the parade fun, let me know! You can ride/drive along with your child's class--or lead off with the Grand Marshal and his Adjutants. I'm putting the parade line-up together this week to send to the Parade Committee!

PS For those of you who are looking at applying for the PK program at any of the public schools, tomorrow is the last day you can put an application in online for the April 3rd lottery. You can find more information by contacting your neighborhood school or by going to http://internet.savannah.chatham.k12.ga.us/district/AcademicAffairs/Pre-Kindergarten/Pages/LotteryProcess.aspx .
