Get Acquainted Day

Welcome back!

We had our Get Acquainted Day today to give everyone a chance to meet their teachers and check out their new classrooms.  It was a wonderful day and we're looking forward to wonderful school year!  We'll see you next week (Tuesday for M-F students and Tuesday/Thursday students and Wednesday for everyone else.)  Happy Labor Day!

Enjoying new friends and places

A surprise emerging on our first morning

Welcome Back Letter

Dear Families,

We hope that you’ve enjoyed your summer. As we approach the start of the 2013-2014 school year at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Preschool, we’ve almost got the building ready to go! We've painted the hallways, installed more new cubbies, and made sure all of the air-conditioners are up and running! We look forward to seeing parents at our evening Open House on Wednesday, August 28, and to meeting our students on Thursday, August 29. We ask that all parents park and walk their children to class for our Get-Acquainted Day on the 29th.  School officially begins on Tuesday, September 3. Carpool will begin on September 3 for our 3s and 4s.  We ask that our 2s parents continue to do a walk-in/pick-up through that first week.

WIPP will continue its active accreditation in the Georgia Preschool Association and Georgia Accrediting Commission. Our staff is required to have instruction in developmentally appropriate educational practices each year in accordance with our accreditation. We have an open-door policy and welcome you to come and visit at any time. We strive to offer a caring, Christian environment that provides the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to enable each of our students to achieve his/her individual potential.

We hope that everyone has seen a copy of this letter already either through snail mail or email, but we're posting it on our blog just in cease. When you receive your letter in the mail you'll find a couple of Publix Partners card for W.I.P.P. enclosed.  Last year we received over $500 that helped pay for the updates in our school hallways—just from the use of our Publix Partners cards! When you shop at Publix, just ask the cashier to scan your school card and we receive a percentage of whatever you spend. There is no cost to you—and if you have more than one school's partner card, you can have them both scanned in!

We also collect used ink cartridges to recycle at Staples.  We earned enough rewards points last year to purchase all of the case paper we used in the school throughout the entire year!  If you (or your business) has used printer cartridges (any brand) that you're not currently recycling, please send them to school in a Ziploc bag for us!  Thanks!

Beginning Tuesday, September 3, we will offer our Early Bird program each weekday morning starting at 8:15 for $2.00 per day. We will also offer our Lunch Bunch program on Tuesday through Friday starting on September 10. The hours are 12:00-1:00 at a cost of $5.00 per day. Students do need to be potty-trained to stay for Lunch Bunch! There will be additional information on these and other programs available at Open House.

The email you received had a copy of our updated handbook for the 2013-14 school year attached.  There have been a few changes so we ask that even our returning parents take some time to read it through.  We'll have printed copies for each family at our Open House so you can sign and return the last page.

We're looking forward to seeing you soon and sharing this year with you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely yours,
Kathleen Pecic, Director

***We do have several families on our waiting list. If your plans change and your child will not be attending W.I.P.P., please let us know as soon as possible so we can reassure those families that their children will have a spot at our school. Thanks!
