Registration for 2022-23

 Happy New Year!

January means it is time to start planning for the 2022-2023 school year here at WIPP. Forms will be going home with current students the week of January 10, and mailed out to those on our waiting list. They also will be available on this webpage (look at the menu to the right on the desktop view).

If you are new to WIPP, and looking for a loving half day preschool for your child for next year, please do not hesitate to email the director (wipp450@gmail.com) or call the school office between 9 and 12 daily for more information. You can also set up a tour to see the school, observe classes and ask any questions in person. We love showing new families how special our school is, and what a wonderful experience it can be for your child!

Can I tour the school?

Absolutely! We welcome families to come see what we have to offer. Tours can be done between 9:15 and 11:00 daily (so as to not interfere with carpool). You may make an appointment by calling the school office at 912-897-7568 or emailing at wipp450@gmail.com. Walk ins are also welcome during those hours, but it is recommended you call first in case of a school event or day off. Please park in the back lot next to the playground, and come to the closest door. All cars must be out of the back lot by 11:30 so our carpool line can form, so we cannot start a tour after 11 am.

Due to pandemic conditions, all visitors need to wear a mask and be completely free of any symptoms of contagious illness, including colds. Tours will not go into occupied classrooms, but we can peek in from the hall and see what is happening in class!

What are the school hours?

School hours are 9-12 daily. Drop off carpool will begin at 8:50, pick up carpool at 11:45.

Throughout the year, there are opportunities for potty trained children to extend the day by up to 1 hour for lunch bunch or after school sports/ activities provided by outside companies, such as Tormenta soccer, YMCA gymnastics, and Dancing Angels. These vary throughout the year, have additional charges, and it should be noted that the pandemic conditions have periodically required them to be put on hold to avoid mixing students together from different classes.

What is the student/ teacher ratio?

For our 3s and 4s classes, we maintain a 1:8 teacher/ student ratio. Each class has up to 16 students, and a lead and an assistant teacher. For our 2s, our teacher/ student ratio is at most 1:7, and usually 1:6. 2s classes are capped at 12-14 students, with both a lead and an assistant teacher.

Are you a daycare?

No. We are a preschool that loosely follows a traditional school year calendar. We have similar breaks around the holidays, and do not offer classes in the summer, nor aftercare in the afternoons.

What are the age cutoffs for each class?

For each class (2s, 3s, and Pre-K 4s), children should be the proper age for each class by Sept. 1 to be on track for kindergarten when they turn 5. We will accept children with later birthdays in September, with director approval. However, parents need to be aware that children with September birthdays will need to repeat a year of preschool somewhere along the way, as our local schools are generally quite strict about children turning 5 by September 1st for kindergarten.

Does my child need to be potty trained to attend WIPP?

Children MUST BE COMPLETELY POTTY-TRAINED for the 3 and 4 year-old classes.

Potty trained= (1) able to communicate a need to use the bathroom,

   (2) able to reasonably handle dressing/hygiene routines, and

   (3) no longer wearing a pullup

While an occasional “accident” is normal for all preschoolers, frequent accidents indicate that a child is not fully potty trained. Any child not fully potty trained by the first day of school will need to stay home for a week and complete training before returning to class. If your child has a medical/ developmental concern, please see the director.

Our 2s students do not need to be potty trained to attend WIPP.
