Our Thanksgiving Songs

You might have heard your children singing some of the songs from our upcoming Thanksgiving program.  Our 3s and 4s perform all of the songs while our 2s join us on the altar for the last two.   We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, November 26,  in the Sanctuary.  The program begins at 9:15.  You're invited to join us after the program for some light refreshments in Fellowship Hall.  Children are dismissed with their families following the program.

If you'd like to practice along with your child, the words to our songs are below!

Salute the Flag
Salute the flag,
The grand old flag
With colors red, white and blue
It stands for truth and liberty
This flag is waving for you!
Salute!

Strut Mr. Turkey (Sing twice)
Who’s that sitting there looking mighty perky
Looks like it might be old Mr. Turkey
Strut Mr. Turkey
That’s a fancy way to walk!
Strut Mr. Turkey
That’s a fancy way to walk!

You Are My Sunshine
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away

Love Somebody
Love somebody
Yes I do!
Love somebody
Yes I do!
Love somebody
Yes I do!
Love somebody
And I’ll tell you who--YOU!

Things I’m Thankful For

(chorus)
There are many things I am thankful for. (many: make fists, then open) (thankful: open hands to mouth, then out in front)
I can find them near and far.(Hold one hand out an move the other close to the body, then farther away.)
There are many things I am thankful for,
Let me tell you what they are (point finger)

I’m thankful for the earth- hands above head making circle
I’m thankful for the sea- move hands like waves
I’m thankful for my friends- link index fingers together
And I’m thankful to be me- hand on heart
(chorus)

I’m thankful for the sun- fist above head, then open fist like sunshine rays
I’m thankful for each tree- left elbow sits on right hand straight up, with open left hand waving
I’m thankful for my home- hands above head making point like a roof
And I’m thankful to be me - hand on heart
(chorus)

I’m thankful for my food- right hand fingers together (like picking something up)- put to mouth
I’m thankful to be free- this one is tricky- bring hands from belly out to side
I’m thankful for the stars- index fingers pointed in air (like popping bubbles)
And I’m thankful to be me.- hand on heart

Indians Like to Play (Sing twice)
Hi-ya-ya-ya
Hi-ya-ya-ya
Indians like to play!

Hi-ya-ya-ya
Hi-ya-ya-ya
Indian holiday!

Jesus Loves Me
Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
they are weak but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
