December Newsletter

Below you'll find a copy of the December newsletter sent home today.  I also wanted to let you know that t-shirts for the Memory Run for Emma Blu should be in on Friday and we'll send them home.  Don't forget to check backpacks on Friday!  We hope to see all of you on Sunday at Daffin Park at 4:00 p.m.  Here's a sneak peek at the design:

December Newsletter

Inclement Weather
As we approach the time of year when temperatures might dip below freezing (!!!) just a reminder that if Savannah-Chatham public schools close because of bad weather, we also close. If they have a 1-hour delay, our hours are 10:05-12:05.  If public schools have a 2-hour delay, we are closed.

Christmas Week Information

Class Christmas Parties
Most classes will have their Christmas parties on Monday or Tuesday (12/17 or 12/18) depending on attendance days.  Keep your eyes open for more information from your child’s teacher and/or room mother.

Christmas Program
Our school Christmas program will be on Wednesday, December 19th, at 9:15 in the Sanctuary.  All of our children will participate in the performance.  Our 4s will borrow Nativity scene costumes supplied by the school.  We ask that all other students dress in nice holiday clothes.

Everyone is invited to join us for cookies and punch afterward in Fellowship Hall.  We’d like to do our third annual school-wide cookie/recipe share this year.  As your family does their holiday cookie baking, would you please make an extra dozen to send to school?  We’ll compile all of the recipes into a WIPP holiday treat booklet that will be sent home with your child in January.  See the bottom of the newsletter for more information.

A Peek Ahead at January
  • Ÿ  We return to school on Thursday, January 3rd.
  • Ÿ  No school on Monday or Tuesday 1/21, 1/22  for Martin Luther King Holiday
  • Ÿ  Friday 1/25  Pajama Day (We’ll all wear our pajamas and have popcorn and a movie!)

W.I.P.P. CHRISTMAS COOKIE RECIPE EXCHANGE
As you start your holiday baking, please make an extra dozen of your favorite cookies and send them to school on a disposable plate (paper or plastic) along with one copy of the recipe.  If you’d like to include your name, that would be great, but we’ll accept anonymous donations!   These can be sent to school during the week of December 17th and we’ll store them until our program on Wednesday morning.  Please return the small slip at the bottom if you’d like to participate.

___Yes, my family will participate in the Christmas cookie sharing.

Thank You!

A very special thank you to Brownie troop #193 from May Howard and their co-leader, Mel O'Brien.  The girls soaped and scrubbed our playground equipment to help get it ready for its move to the new playground at the end of this month.

Thanks!

A Visit From Oatland Island

Our 4s had some special visitors this week.  Oatland Island came to WIPP and brought some of their nocturnal animals.  We were great listeners while meeting a flying squirrel, a screech owl, and a possum!  When we get home we're going to look and listen for these creatures in our own neighborhoods.

October Retrospective

October found WIPP filled with glitter, goodies, ghouls, and good times!
