We're Back!

It's official!  We've completed our 2011-2012 Visitation Day and are now ready for our first real week of school.  We had lots of activity in the building in the short time between 9:05 and 10:30.  There were plenty of bathroom breaks, crafts, building activities, songs and chants, and smiles!

We ask that all families read through our school handbook and sign and return the form in the back.  We have made some minor changes this year.  We have several other forms that need to be returned including those for emergency contacts, carpool safety, and permission to photograph.  Thank you for your time and patience in getting all of the beginning-of-the-year busywork done for us.

Our five-day classes will return on Tuesday, September 6th, using our regular carpool with Mrs. Knudsen and the 4s in the front parking lot and Mrs. Smith's M-F students in the back lot.  We ask our 2s parents to continue walking their children to the classroom for the first few weeks of school to help with any separation hesitation.

Check back for our first week update.

Parent Open House!

We're getting our classrooms ready!

We'll see parents at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary on Wednesday, August 31st.  After a brief welcome and introduction of our staff, parents will have a chance to visit classrooms and meet teachers.

On Thursday, September 1st, our students will get a chance to come and visit their new rooms!  THERE WILL BE NO CARPOOL ON THIS DAY.  PLEASE WALK YOU CHILD TO THE ROOM.  Our 3s and 4s will be dropped at their classrooms and spend from 9:05 until 10:30 with their new friends.  Our 2s will come for a "playdate" visit with their mom or dad.  (To avoid the rush and bustle of the 9:05 arrivals, you might want to wait until a little later to visit.)

We're looking forward to seeing you!

Welcome Back!

We've mailed out our Welcome Back letters and 2011-2012 calendars this week, but here's a sneak preview for those of you who check the blog!

We're getting ready for the start of the 2011-2012 school year at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Preschool. Once again we will strive for a caring, Christian environment that provides the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to enable each of our students to achieve his/her individual potential.

We will continue our active accreditation in the Georgia Preschool Association and Georgia Accrediting Commission, and we are exploring membership in the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our staff is required to have instruction in developmentally appropriate educational practices each year in accordance with our accreditation. We have an open-door policy and welcome you to come and visit at any time.
Enclosed you will also find a copy of the calendar for the upcoming year. We look forward to seeing parents at our evening meeting on Wednesday, August 31, and to meeting our students on Thursday, September 1. Beginning Monday, September 12, we will offer our Early Bird program each weekday morning starting at 8:15 for $2.00 per day. We will also offer our Lunch Bunch program each day afterschool from 12:05-1:05 at a cost of $5.00 per day. There will be additional information on these and other programs available at Open House.
We've also enclosed a Publix Partners card for W.I.P.P. This year we are hoping to revitalize our school playground area, and we're designating funds generated from our Publix cards for this major project. When you shop at Publix, just ask the cashier to scan your school card and we receive a percentage of whatever you spend. There is no cost to you—and if you have more than one school's partner card, you can scan them both in!
We're looking forward to seeing you soon and sharing this year with you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

***We do have several families on our waiting list. If your plans change and your child will not be attending W.I.P.P., please let us know as soon as possible so we can reassure those families that their children will have a spot at our school. Thanks!

Sunshine Summer: Week 3

Kiddy-up for our Sunshine Summer Rodeo!  Our building was overrun with sheriffs and cowpokes during week 3 of Sunshine Summer.  We're pretty sure that all of our "pardners" had a great time!

Sunshine Summer: Week 2

Think palm trees, cool drinks and the ocean.....

Week 2 was all about the beach.

We made a beach in a bottle craft one day. Our special snack this week was pudding (with blue food coloring to look like water) with sand (cookies crushed on top.) Of course, we put a little umbrella in the snack to finish it off. We had lemonade with a special straw too.

The 4's went home on Friday with their hula skirts, sunglasses and leis that they made. They looked so cute!

We went "camping" this week during Sunshine Summer!  (And we didn't even leave the preschool!)

End-of-the-Year Picnic

We had a wonderful time at our end-of-the-year picnic at Tybee Island's Memorial Park.  Thank you to everyone who helped make it so much fun--and to all of the families who came out to celebrate the end of our 2010-2011 school year.

Week of May 9th

We've had a lot of fun things going on this week as we prepare to wrap up the 2010-2011 school year.

Enjoying nacho chips and salsa...

...along with taquitos in Mrs. Whitaker's room

Making tie-dye t-shirts with Mrs. Reese

Picking strawberries at Ottawa Farms...

...then enjoying a snack afterward
