As you are no doubt aware, the Covid-19 infection rate in our county is growing rapidly. Many of you have questions as to how this will affect our plans for the 2020-21 school year here at WIPP. I have been discussing the evolving situation with both the preschool staff and board. At this time, things are changing rapidly week to week, and it is not clear yet if WIPP will need to push back our start date or otherwise modify our program. I hope to have more concrete information for you at the beginning of August, after the board and I look at the public and private schools' decisions, we get some guidance from the state, and I can determine the impact those factors will have on our staffing.
Absolutely nothing is more important than the safety of our children, staff and families. All of us want to be back in school as soon as it is safe and responsible to do so. It's frustrating to no longer be able to say definitively that we are going to be ready to go on August 24. However, we are certainly still hoping and planning to open for school as soon as we can, even if we need to modify the calendar somewhat.
In the meantime, please know that we all miss the children, and are looking forward to seeing them soon. I'll send out another whole school update around August 1st, but please don't hesitate to reach out anytime with any questions or concerns.
