Parent Email 11/12/18

We hope that all of our families had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving. We start back to school tomorrow, November 26th! Below are a few dates for you to add to your December (and January!) calendars.

  • Christmas program: Wednesday, December 19th at 9:15. All of our children will participate in the performance. We ask that all of our students dress in nice holiday clothes. After the program, everyone is invited back to Fellowship Hall for cookies and punch. We'd like to continue our annual school-wide recipe exchange, so we ask that as your family does your holiday baking this year, you make an extra dozen of your favorite cookies to send to school (along with one copy of the recipe) for our program. We'll be sending home a booklet with last year's cookie recipes to inspire you this week!
  • Christmas break: Thursday, December 20th through Wednesday, January 2nd
  • Classes resume Thursday, January 3rd.
  • No School: Monday, January 21st MLK Holiday
  • Friday, January 25th Pajama Day
Look for more information coming home on all of this over the next few weeks. Remember you can always check the blog or our FB page to make sure you're not missing anything!

Thanksgiving Program: Friday 9:15

Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving program! We can't wait to see you!

3s & 4s: Please bring your child to the classroom between 8:45-9:00 before heading over to the Sanctuary to get a seat. We ask that you park in the front lot or the overflow lot.
2s: Please use the back for regular carpool between 8:40 and 8:55 then park in the front and come into the Sanctuary.

This program is our short one! It should last about 30 minutes.

This isn't a normal day for us. There will be NO Early Birds or Lunch Bunch. Children will be dismissed immediately following the program. Everyone is invited to join us in Fellowship Hall after the program for light refreshments.

We have off all next week for Thanksgiving Break!

I'll remind everyone before the program starts where the best seats are to see your child's class, but here's where everyone will be:
Miss Heather's class starts on the far left.
Miss Deborah's class will be right next to them at center left.
Mrs. Knudsen's class will be in the middle/left.
Miss Did's class will be middle/right.
Mrs. Heebner's class will on the right.

The 2s come in and join us for the last three songs of the program with Miss Jaycie's class on the left in front of the 4s, Mrs. Anderson's class in the middle, and Miss Emily's class on the right in front of the 3s.

Some of you have asked about what kind of clothes your child should wear. Below are pictures from a past program showing our Pilgrims (Mrs. Knudsen class and the 4s) and Native Americans (the 2s, Mrs. Heebner, and Miss Didi's classes.) Some of our Native American costumes (especially for the little kids) are shorter than the one's in the picture--more hip length so they don't fall!

Thanks for helping us celebrate!

Parent Email 11/4/18

Below is a copy of the email sent to families on Sunday, November 4.

Hi Families!

Thank you for all of the candy donations! We delivered a laundry basket full of candy to Godley Station Dental on Thursday and another one to Dogwood Pediatric Dentistry on Friday. If you still have candy you'd like to donate to Operation Gratitude, you can drop it off at Dogwood Pediatric Dentistry at 4849 Paulsen Street on Monday or Tuesday.

Sweet Feet Soccer participants: Keep an eye on weather! We'll post a notice on our FB page if tomorrow's class is cancelled.

We'll be joining the Wilmington Island Farmer's Market on Saturday 11/10 for Storytime. Join us at 10:00 for some stories and songs!

There's no school on Monday, November 12, in honor of Veterans' Day. If you're looking for some family-oriented Veterans' Day activities, you can join the Savannah Children's Choir at the Mighty 8th Museum on Sunday, November 11, at 3:00 for a free concert. The Savannah Veterans' Day Parade will be downtown on Monday 11/12 from 9:00-12:00.

We'll be collecting canned goods for Second Harvest during the week of November 13th. Items that are especially needed include peanut butter, jelly, soups, canned meat, canned fruit, and rice.

Our Thanksgiving program will be at 9:15 on Friday, November 16, in the Sanctuary. We'll be sending home more information on this later in the week.

Don't forget to check your child's class blog to see what their class has been up to!

Happy November!
Kathleen
