Be Kind to Animals Week at WIPP

Many of our families have pets that we love and take care of, but some animals in our area aren't that lucky. During the week of September 29, we're collecting the items below to help out the Humane Society and One Love Animal Rescue. Some of our classes will be decorating toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls to send along with our good wishes. (These are filled with treats and folded closed to use as makeshift KONG toys.)

We'll also have a jar in the hallway to collect change for Coastal Pet Rescue's
Pennies for Pets fund.

Thank you for all you do for our school—and our community!

You can send any of the items below to school September 29-October 3 and we'll make sure they get delivered! If you'd like to come by and drop them off, you're always welcome.

  • Dawn dishwashing soap
  • HE (High Efficiency) liquid laundry detergent (especially fragrance-free)
  • large size hand sanitizer bottles
  • Paper towels
  • Purina Dry dog/puppy and cat/kitten food
  • dog treats (like Pupperonis)
  • Dog toys (Nyla bones and sturdy chew toys)
  • Cat litter (Purina brand)
  • cat treats
  • non-clumping kitty litter
  • plush cat beds
  • food bowls
  • blankets, any kind (Clean used ones are fine!)

WIPP Welcome Back Letter (mailed August 18, 2014)

Dear Families:

We hope that you’ve enjoyed your summer. As we approach the start of the 2014-2015 school year at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Preschool, we’ve almost got the building ready to go! All of our classes now have new wall cubbies, we've replaced some of our floor tiles, and we've made sure all of the air-conditioners are up and running! We look forward to seeing parents at our evening Open House on Wednesday, August 27, at 7:00 pm, and to meeting our students on Thursday, August 28 on our Get-Acquainted Day.  We ask that all parents park and walk their children to class for our Get-Acquainted Day and pick them up afterward.  (Our 2s are  a little bit different since a parent accompanies them for a get-acquainted playdate on Thursday.)

School officially begins on Tuesday, September 2. Carpool will begin on September 3 for our 3s and 4s.  We ask that our 2s parents continue to do a walk-in/pick-up through that first week.  We ask that you place your child's carseat on the passenger side of your vehicle to make it easier for us to help your child get in and out.

WIPP will continue its active accreditation in the Georgia Preschool Association and Georgia Accrediting Commission. Our staff is required to have instruction in developmentally appropriate educational practices each year in accordance with our accreditation. We have an open-door policy and welcome you to come and visit at any time. We strive to offer a caring, Christian environment that provides the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to enable each of our students to achieve his/her individual potential.

When you receive your letter in the mail you'll find a couple of Publix Partners card for W.I.P.P. enclosed.  Last year we received nearly $600 from Publix—just from the use of our Publix Partners cards! When you shop at Publix, just ask the cashier to scan your school card and we receive a percentage of whatever you spend. There is no cost to you—and if you have more than one school's partner card, you can have them both scanned in!

We also collect used printer ink cartridges to recycle at Staples.  Last year we used these recycling points to purchase all of the case paper used in the school throughout the entire year!  If you (or your business) has used printer cartridges (any brand) that you're not currently recycling, please send them to school in a Ziploc bag for us!  Thanks!

Beginning Monday, September 8, we will offer our Early Bird program each weekday morning starting at 8:15 for $2.00 per day. We will also offer our Lunch Bunch program on Wednesday through Friday starting on September 10. These hours are 12:00-1:00 at a cost of $5.00 per day. Students do need to be potty-trained to stay for Lunch Bunch! There will be additional information on these and other programs available at Open House.

Our music teacher, Miss Jenna, will also be starting some community music classes in our building this fall.  Miss Jenna (in addition to being our wonderful music teacher!) is a board certified/licensed music therapist.  Keep your eyes open for more information on that coming home at the beginning of the school year.

We're looking forward to seeing you soon and sharing this year with you. Please feel free to contact the school at 897-7568 or kpecic@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

***We have several families on our waiting list. If your plans change and your child will not be attending W.I.P.P., please let us know as soon as possible so we can reassure those families that their children will have a spot at our school. Thanks!

Happy August!

We're still a few weeks away from our Parent Open House on Wednesday, August 27th (7:00 pm in the Sanctuary) and our Visitation Day on Thursday, August 28th, so we have plenty of time to get things ready!

Under Construction!!

It might have been warm outside, but we had a lot of fun pretending it was cold indoors!
