Music with Miss Caitlin

Every week we get to enjoy music with Miss Caitlin.  Here you can see us following directions while "dancing" with scarves.  Miss Caitlin is a certified Kindermusik instructor and we love all of things she does with us.  (Check out Miss Caitlin's website at http://www.makingmelodiesmt.com/.)

Hello Families!

Just an update on some of the things going on around school as we finish February and head into March.

We have had several confirmed cases of the flu over the last 10 days, so please be aware of the information below and keep your child home if he/she is showing any of the symptoms mentioned.

Unlike symptoms of a common cold, flu symptoms usually come on suddenly. It often starts with the abrupt onset of fever, headache, fatigue, and body aches. Here's a list of flu symptoms you might feel:
  • fever (usually high)
  • severe aches and pains in the joints and muscles and around the eyes
  • generalized weakness
  • ill appearance with warm, flushed skin and red, watery eyes
  • headache
  • dry cough
  • sore throat and watery discharge from your nose
Seasonal influenza is not usually associated with gastrointestinal symptoms, like diarrhea and vomiting, at least not in adults.

 On a happier note...

  • Hope for warm weather and enjoy our day off on Monday, February 21st, for President's Day!
  • We enjoyed some wonderful Valentine's Day celebrations in our classrooms. Thank you to all of our parents who helped out.
  • We're looking forward to Donuts with Daddies for our 2s and 3s next week, February 24th and 25th. Look for information from your child's teacher for more details.
  • Orders for our St. Patrick's Day t-shirts are due this Friday, February 18th. The shirts are bright green with the school's name, St. Patrick's Day, and shamrocks/pot of gold printed in dark green. Cost is $10. Call the office or check our blog for more ordering information.

Thank you again for all you do to make our school a success!

Thursday, February 3

Well, the groundhog didn't see his shadow and that means that spring should be here soon.  It certainly felt that way today!  It was so nice to see the sunshine after so much rain.  Even though it's fun to wear our rain gear and carry our umbrellas, we'd much rather have it be warm and sunny so we can go outside to play!

Registration Update (January 28)

Just an update on our registration...

We still have slots available in next year's 2s and 4s.  If you're interested in having your child attend WIPP next year, please call the office (897-7568) any weekday between 9:15 and 11:30 for more information. You can also find our registration form/info on this blog if you scroll down a few entries.

Our 3s classes have already filled for next year.  We are currently working our way down the waiting list as spaces become available through attrition.  If you're interested in adding your name to our waiting list, please call the office.

We  had a lot of fun things going on around the building today.  Our twos were exploring ice at their sensory table.  Not only did they get to dig around in it, they also found some animals frozen in blocks of ice.  Miss Heather was glad that everyone remembered to wear their mittens!

We had a very busy restaurant operating in our 3s!  The cash register was ringing while boys and girls enjoyed enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one stop.  Pets and babies were welcomed at this restaurant, even if they didn't get a chair to sit on!

Our 4s had a variety of activities going on.  There were three classes of 4s today, so below is a glimpse of what was happening in each.
While some children worked on art  projects or played in the kitchen area, others took time to look at some good books.

This teacher's helper led the class in saying the days of the week.

These boys were listening intently to their teacher telling them about the word treasure hunt that they were going to have.

Dear Families:

As we approach the end of another month, I just wanted to share some information and updates for your calendars. We've opened up registration to new students this week after getting a wonderful response for next year from our current students. If you have any questions about registration, please call the office between 9:00 and 11:30.

Health
As we continue in the midst of cold and flu season, just a reminder about our Health Policy.
The staff will make every effort possible to protect the health and safety of each child. Your cooperation is expected to prevent the spread of contagious diseases. You should keep your child home if he/she has symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, runny nose, sore throat, skin rash, earache, coughing, or fever. If your child develops a contagious disease, please notify the teacher/Director in order that other parents may be notified of the possible exposure to their children. The State Health Department REQUIRES this.
If your child becomes ill during the morning, you will be contacted immediately and your child will be isolated from the other children until you can pick up your child. Please do not send your child to school if he/she shows any signs of illness, including colds.

Carpool
In order to keep the carpool line moving and avoid back-ups, we ask that if you are going to get out of your car to pick up your child, you park in the parking lot and walk up to the building. If you're in the carpool line, please stay in your car and wait for us to bring your child to you.

Parent Conferences
If you'd like a conference and you haven't yet talked to your child's teacher, please contact them as soon as possible. There is no school for students on Friday, January 28, so that teachers are available to meet with parents.

Upcoming Dates
Monday, February 14 Valentine's Day (Look for information from your child's teacher on class parties.)
Monday, February 21 No School: Presidents' Day
Friday, February 25 Doughnuts With Daddy for 2s and 3s 8:15-8:45 a.m.

Thank you again for all you do,

Kathleen

Friday, January 21

Thanks to everyone who has turned in their registration information already.  We've begun to send out packets to families on our waiting list because we'll start officially accepting new student registrations on Monday, January 24th.  If you have any questions, please call the office (897-7568) between 9:15 and 11:15.  (You can call anytime and leave a message, but those are the best times to get a real live person on the phone!)  You can also email kpecic@gmail.com and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

It was finally warm enough to get outside on Thursday and our 2s were very excited about getting some fresh air!

You can see that some of our 3s weren't quite ready to give up their princess dresses before moving over to play with some manipulatives.

There was a birthday in one of our 4s classes this week.  That means a special snack for everybody!

If you look closely you might be able to see the narwhals that these 4s have drawn.  When I visited their class they told me that only male narwhals have the long horns that make then look like unicorns.

Friday, January 14

What's more fun than wearing your pajamas to school? Wearing your pajamas to school, eating popcorn, and watching a movie with all of your friends! We had a great time today with the 3s and 4s in Fellowship Hall. Our 2s stayed in the preschool building for their pajama party and had just as much fun. What a wonderful way to end the week!

Thursday, January 13

Well, we might have to start changing our bulletin boards to encourage spring and warm weather.  After having our school close on Tuesday because of the threat of icy roads, we've been shivering at carpool and finding lots of inside activities to do.  We did make sure that we took a look outside at the fountain in the Memorial Garden today.  It was the first time some of us had ever seen icicles!
