Pajama Day #1 at WIPP!

Our already schedule Pajama Days at WIPP were well-timed with this cold front. Our T/Th 2s had their Pajama Day today and were looking snug and cozy as could be in their PJs! Tomorrow we look forward to Day 2!

Guest Readers!

 Today we had double the fun at WIPP as a pair of grandparents teamed up to be our Guest Readers. One did a fantastic job reading the story Bug Soup to the kids while the other kept the preschoolers fully engaged by passing out props so they could participate in the story. It was such a fun book… we definitely recommend it! We greatly appreciate ALL of our guest readers’ willingness to share their time and energy with us!

Music & Fire Drill #5

 Fortunately we had no damages or power loss from yesterday’s storm so we were able to return to school today… just time time for Music with Mrs. Molnar! 🎶 

Though our severe weather closure yesterday was for a thunderstorm and the possibility of a tornado, Monday we prepared for a different type of emergency with our 5th fire drill of the year. The preschoolers truly know the drill at this point. 🔥 

No School Tuesday January 9

WIPP follows the guidance of SCCPSS, the local public school system, for closures related to weather conditions. SCCPSS has announced that
"based on information received from the Chatham Emergency Management Agency" it “will close all in-person operations on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024" due to the threat of severe weather to our area. Therefore, WIPP will also be closed tomorrow (Tuesday, January 9). 

Gymnastics will also be cancelled for Tuesday, January 9. 

This Wednesday, SCCPSS will have a delayed start to the day “to allow time for SCCPSS Maintenance staff to inspect all facilities and ensure their operational status for the safety of students and staff.” WIPP will not need a delay to allow time for a building inspection. Therefore, as long as WIPP has power Wednesday and our building and grounds are in good condition, we will be open Wednesday, January 10. If anything changes regarding reopening WIPP Wednesday, all families will be notified via email. But the plan is for WIPP to be open Wednesday!

Storytime with our Islands Librarian

 Ms. Kristi Smith, the Youth Services Librarian at our Islands Library, came to WIPP and did Storytime with all of our students. A lot of our preschoolers instantly recognized her because they attend Storytime at the library, and she knew so many of them by name! Of course she is (literally) a pro at this, so it was a very enjoyable time for all. If anyone hasn’t taken their toddler or preschooler to the Storytime and other children’s activities at our Islands Library, WIPP highly recommends checking it out.

Parachute Fun at Music Today

 Beginning our New Year with Mrs. Molnar’s music was a real treat at WIPP today. Especially fun was the parachute  she brought into the classrooms for activities!

 

School is Back for 2024

 The preschoolers returned to WIPP today, and it was so much fun having everyone back in the building. Here is a look at some of the upcoming events we have planned!
