This week our preschoolers have been learning about fire safety as part of Fire Prevention Week, and today we two firefighters came with their firetruck to talk to the preschoolers about what they do as firefighters. It was a lot of fun and very informative. The most important part for this age group is always when the firefighters show the preschoolers that they are “still people” under the suits and tell them that if they see them during a fire they should run TO them and never hide.
We had a special guest reader today to end our Fire Prevention Week at WIPP! The dad of our preschoolers is a firefighter, and he came to read a Clifford book about fire safety to the preschoolers. This was his second year reading to our preschoolers during Fire Prevention Week, and we really appreciate that he comes to do this for us! We love our Guest Readers at WIPP.
Mrs. Molnar brought her friend Melody to help teach music this week! So if any preschoolers talked about Melody, here she is. ☺️ Also, Mrs. Molnar has been singing some fun interactive Halloween songs with the preschoolers, and they can be accessed on her website. We kicked off WIPP’s Mission of the Month program this month with Pennies for Puppies! The preschoolers are invited to collect pennies (and other coins) to bring to school to support Renegade Paws Rescue. We also are collecting dog toys, sheets, and blankets. Several of our preschoolers have brought in donations already!
We started our week with Fire Drill #2 of the school year! It’s LOUD but they did amazing (again!) listening to their teachers and quickly exiting the building. It was pretty cute to hear some of them explain to Pastor Andy, as they passed him outside on the sidewalk, “Don’t worry we are doing a fire DRILL not a real fire.”
