Quarantine Reminder!

This also came home in the backpacks on 9/3. Everyone wants all the children to be able to attend school all the time, but if quarantine is broken, and a class is exposed to covid, up to 16 families and 2 staff are then quarantined for 2 weeks. If you are at risk of being positive for covid, please stay home until cleared to come back to school!

Open House 2021-22

In light of the current health conditions, our Open House on August 25 will need to be modified. We are no longer going to have one big information session for parents, then have parents all head over to the building to meet the teachers at once. Instead, the information session will be divided up into 3 sessions by grade level as listed above.

For 2s ONLY:
  • ALL 2s parents will meet in the church sanctuary at 5:30 for the information session. Since the MWF and T/TH classes share the same classroom, we will not be heading over to the room this night. Parents can visit the room the next day during our Get Acquainted Day.
  • Thursday, August 26, is Get Acquainted Day. During the time slot for your child's class, a parent (or grandparent) and your child can come by for 15 minutes or so to meet the teacher, explore the room, drop off supplies if you have them ready, and ask the teacher any questions.

Thursday, 8/26, Get Acquainted Day Times in the classroom

Mrs. Anderson and Miss Sandy's MWF 2s-> 9-10:30
Miss Tia and Miss Jaycie's Flex 2s-> 9-10:30
Miss Laura and Miss Dia's T/Th 2s-> 10:30- 12

For 3s and 4s:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 25, ALL 3s/4s parents will meet in the church sanctuary at 6:15 (3s) or 7:00 (4s) for the information session. After some general information about whole school policies and procedures, parents will head to the classrooms for Q and A with the individual teachers.
  • Thursday, August 26, is Get Acquainted Day from 9:00 to 10:30. Please park and walk your child to the building door closest to your child's classroom. They will have a short morning with their teacher and new classmates to get to know each other a little bit, have some fun, and get used to being away from mom/ dad for just a little bit. You will park and walk to the building to pick them up.
Regardless of vaccination status, all WIPP visitors must wear a mask at all times while on campus. Please spread out as much as possible, and do not attend any of the above if anyone in your household is ill, exposed/ quarantined, or awaiting test results. Thank you!

All current WIPP students are eligible to enroll, as well as students' siblings that are registered to enter the 3s and 4s next year. As of now, Sunshine Summer is not open to the general public.

All registrations are first come, first served until classes are full! 50% of fees are due at registration, and the balance must be paid in full by May 14. All fees are nonrefundable, so please check your schedules. Below is a copy of the paperwork coming home next week:

Happy Spring! Here's What's Coming Up at WIPP

Spring has definitely sprung on our beautiful island!

We have lots of fun activities to look forward to in the next- and final- two months of the school year. Here is an overview of what is coming up, and make sure you look for more details in email and in the backpack as we get closer to each event.

Easter Egg Hunts! These are held by class either on campus or at one of the many playgrounds nearby. Check with your child's teacher for the specific details for your class. Miss Laura's T/Th 2s will celebrate on Thursday, March 25, and all other classes on Friday, March 26. All off campus egg hunts require an adult to attend with the student.

Spring Break- We are off for spring break all next week- March 29 to April 2. Have a wonderful time with your family, and a blessed Easter.

Conference Day- Monday, April 5, is set aside as a conference time for our parents and teachers. It is NOT a regular class day for students. Many teachers will also schedule conferences before or after school. Conferences can be done in person, by email or phone. Please confirm with your teacher a convenient mode and time, or let her know if you do not wish to have a conference.

Bike Week is April 12-16! Our charity of the month for April is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online fundraising information will come home in the April calendar. Our 3s and 4s will have a day assigned to bring in a bike (or scooter, trike, etc) to ride as a class in our front parking lot. All fundraising donations are handled online, and your child can earn fun prizes.

Class Pictures- We will take a group picture of each class during the week of April 19. Families will be able to purchase pictures for $8 each. This will just be a whole class photo, not individual pictures. Due to absences, we may adjust the days so we can get  a picture with all the students.

Mother's Day/ Father's Day- Friday, May 7, will be our celebration for Mother's Day and Father's Day! It will be a program day, so at least one parent must attend with students. Current conditions still prohibit a gathering in one spot of our whole WIPP family, so we will be breaking with tradition and celebrating by grade level. The children will be learning a few songs to sing for the parents, making some special gifts, and we will have refreshments to enjoy together picnic style in the garden. Good weather is a must, so pray for sun! More details will come home closer to the event.

Last Day of Class- The last day of regular school in the building is Monday, May 17.

Pre-K Graduation/ End of the Year Picnic Tuesday, May 17- We will have our Pre-K 4s Graduation ceremony in the church with our 4s and their families at 9:30. At 10:30, we invite all our WIPP families to join us for our end of the year picnic at school. We will be grilling hot dogs, playing on the playgrounds, and celebrating the end of a wonderful year of preschool together!

January Music!

 January Music- by Miss Kathleen

What a wonderful start to our new year! This month we all read and sang along to There Was An Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow, and  There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Frog.

I switched some of the words from the chorus sections so the kids can sing along and do some motions.  For the Cold Lady and the Snow, we call her an old lady rather than a cold lady, and for the Old Lady and the Frog, it's "I don't know why she swallowed that frog...She's really a hog!" Of course, then all get to oink like piggies!

On the day we read and sang the Old Lady and the Frog, we also read the pop-up book Wide-Mouth Frog and sang along. We called him a bullfrog and used a really deep voice for him. Here's a version that substitutes eating bugs for flies, but the kids will recognize it: https://youtu.be/f77AslbcPKg .

We also spent some time singing our January Bible story song about Daniel in the Lions' Den. We just sang this chorus, but you can find the whole song at https://youtu.be/1_d_eLGamLY .

An angel came down to shut the lion's jaw

This big and scary lion couldn't even roar.

God sent an angel to shut the lion's jaw

He couldn't even roar.

And Daniel gave thanks like never before

We also sang some pajama day songs. We read the pop-up book Bedtime Bugs and sang “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and “Rock-a-bye Buggies” (instead of “Rock-a-bye Baby:!) We sang and danced to “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” and then pretended to put our pajamas on while we chanted “What time is it? Pajama Time!” until we got tired.

December at WIPP

December was a busy short month here at WIPP! Our students learned all about the true meaning of Christmas, made lots of crafts, sang lots of songs, played with friends and continued to learn and grow together. The excitement in the building grew day by day as we got closer to Christmas, and the joy of candy cane hunts, present creation, holiday games and parties could be seen in every corner of our school.

Registration for next year will begin soon after we get back from break, so make sure to check the children's backpacks for paperwork when we return to class in January. Registration will begin with our current families and people on the waitlist first, at the beginning of the month, and open up to the general public on January 22. You can access forms on this page under the headings to the right. If you have any questions, please email Miss Heather or call the office between 9:15 and 11:30 daily.

Here are few highlights from our December fun:
