St. Jude Bike Week (3s and 4s) Updated

Thanks to everyone who made this so much fun!  Bike riding is a great way to develop gross motor skills for kids this age, so keep it up at home!

This week is St. Jude's Bike Week at WIPP. Our 3s and 4s will bring their bikes to school and we'll ride around part of the front parking lot! Below you'll find additional details on how everything works--and you may also have gotten some additional information from your child's teacher.
· Each child must bring his/her helmet to participate!
· Please make sure your child's name is on both bike and helmet.

All of our bike activities are weather-dependent.  Right now it looks as if we'll have perfect cool, sunny mornings!

Bike Week Schedule
Wednesday: Miss Deborah and Mrs. Heebner's classes

Thursday: Miss Heather's class
Friday: Mrs. Knudsen and Miss Didi's classes

On your child's bike day, teachers will get bikes out at morning carpool and "park" them in the bike space. We'll also help load up bikes at afternoon carpool. If your child comes to Early Birds, please bring his/her bike up to the building doors when you drop them off and we'll make sure they get to where they need to go. If your child is going to Lunch Bunch after his/her Bike Day, don't forget to pick up the bike afterward! If you arrive at afternoon carpool early and want to load up your child's bike while you're waiting for the classes to come out, that's always appreciated! :)

You can make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to support them in their crusade against childhood cancer by using the envelope that will be coming home by Friday or by donating online. If you'd like to donate cash or check, please return your child's envelope to school by Wednesday, April 18. Directions for donating online are below.

• Go to http://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Trike/Trike?pg=entry&fr_id=84170. You can set up a donation page for your child by clicking register and following the directions. Your child can then accept donations on that webpage directly to St. Jude's. 
• OR you can go to http://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Trike/Trike?px=5098816&pg=personal&fr_id=84170 , the webpage set up in Miss Kathleen's name to collect donations for families who might not want to go through the process of setting up their own page. If your child has a donation made to this page, please record it on the donation envelope (Name, Online, and Donation Amount on the lines provided) and return it to school by April 18th.

Our little school raised over $1000 for St. Jude last year! It would be wonderful if we could do the same this year.

Hi Families!

We hope that everyone enjoyed Spring Break!

This week was the SCCPSS Pre-K lottery. If you turned in a registration form for WIPP's PK4s, but are waiting to hear on the lottery, please email us or call the office and let us know what your child's status is.

Savannah Speech and Hearing did the Kindergarten screening for our 4s this week. We'll send home the completed forms next week in your child's backpack. We don't keep a copy of this form so make sure you put it in a safe place!

Registration forms for Sunshine Summer were sent home this week. You must pre-register for Sunshine Summer so make sure you get your forms turned on time. The three weeks following the end of our school year will be filled with fun and exciting activities! For those of you who have children participating in Sweet Feet Soccer at WIPP, our first make-up day was Wednesday, April 4th, and then next one will be Monday, May 7th.

If you have any empty plastic Easter Eggs that you'd like to donate to the church, please send them into school with your child. The church will be collecting those this week to pack away for next year's Easter Egg Hunt!

Next week, our 3s and 4s will be participating in St. Jude's Bike Week. Look for a separate email with information on our Bike Schedule and how to donate to St. Jude!

Hi Families!

Thank you again for all of your help with the St. Patrick's Day parade. The teachers provide a brunch after the parade for the Grand Marshal and his attendants (joined this year by the Emerald Society and the Tybee Beach Brigade) and every year the compliments abound on the behavior of our kids and how fun our little parade is for everyone. If you haven't seen the pictures yet, check out the blogs! All of the class blogs can be accessed through the right side of the school blog at www.wippreschool.blogspot.com.

Next week is our Spring Break. We hope that everyone has a wonderful week off! We'll see you back at school on Tuesday, April 3. We'll have a Spring Celebration for the kids at school this Friday (Thursday for Miss Emily's 2s and 3s) with popcorn and popsicles--and even some classroom egg hunts. Because of the way our St. Patrick's Day Parade/Spring Break/Easter Holidays are on this year's calendar, we're not having our traditional Easter parties. Those will resume next year!

Teachers are in the process of scheduling spring conferences for our students. We know that we see many of you at carpool, in the classroom, and in our neighborhoods, so you might not feel the need for a formal conference--we can also email or call you to keep you up-to-date!

We will have the folks from Savannah Speech and Hearing at WIPP on Wednesday, April 4, to do Kindergarten screening for our 4s. There is no charge for this service! Forms were sent home this week if you'd like to opt your child out of the screening--I know some of you may already have had it done by your child's pediatrician--please make sure you send back the form back in!

After we return from Spring Break, look for registration forms for Sunshine Summer to come home. The three weeks following the end of our school year will be filled with fun and exciting activities!
