End of January Email

Just in case you didn't see the email version sent out yesterday...

We're almost at the end of the first month of 2018!  I've included the calendar for the rest of the school below--because time is flying!  If you haven't checked out the photos from Pajama Day on the blog entry just below--they're adorable!
  • We've had some of the sicknesses creep back in to our classes.  While we haven't been especially hard hit yet, we have had assorted cases of the stomach bug, flu, a flu-like respiratory illness, and strep.  We'll keep you posted on anything that really affects any one class--or the whole building.
  • Many of you know the Foran/Stuckey families from WIPP or the community.  In addition to the children attending WIPP, Buttercup (also known as Angie Foran!) was an assistant in our 2s and 4s classes and has continued to sub at WIPP.  Lily Stuckey (a WIPP alumni who is currently in 6th grade) was recently diagnosed with leukemia.  While they have a strong family/friend base to support them, prayers are most appreciated and welcome.
  • If you haven't returned your registration forms for next year, please get them in ASAP.  We have some classes that are already just about full!
  • We're looking at updating the bathrooms in the preschool this summer.  We need the fixtures replaced and some repainting done.  If you know someone who'd like to take a look at them and give us a bid, please let me know (or ask them to contact me.)
  • The church is collecting new and gently-used blankets to donate to those in need in Savannah.  If you have any that you'd like to share, please send them into school by Wednesday, January 31.
  • Sweet Feet Soccer will start their spring session at WIPP on Monday, February 5th. Classes are held on Bill Lester Field right after school.  We walk the participants out to meet the soccer coaches at dismissal and you come and pick them up at 12:45.  For more information go to www.sweetfeetsoccer.org .

Thank you for all you do!

HAPPY SNOWDAY!

UPDATE: NO SCHOOL TOMORROW,  JANUARY 3rd!

Below is a copy of the email sent out to families on January 2.

Happy New Year!

We hope that all of you have enjoyed your Christmas holidays and the start of the new year. We will start back to school tomorrow--weather-permitting! Just a reminder that our school closure for bad weather is determined by SCCPS:
  • If SCCPS is closed or 2 hours late, WIPP is closed.
  • If SCCPs is 1 hour late, we will begin carpool at 9:50 and class at 10:05.
If an announcement is made regarding school closings, we'll post it on the blog and our FB page as soon as we hear it!

Just to repeat...
As you know we had a lot of illnesses hit the preschool in December! Please make sure that we have a contact number where we can always reach someone to come and get your child if he/she isn't feeling well. We did have one confirmed case of mononucleosis at WIPP and I know there were several other cases at local schools. (See below for a little bit of information from the internet.) Symptoms may mimic strep, so if your child hasn't been feeling well, has a sore throat but tests negative for strep, you might want to mention this to your pediatrician.

(From www.healthychildren.org ) Many infants and young children have no symptoms or only very mild ones. When there are signs and symptoms of mononucleosis, they usually include the following:
Fever
Sore throat, including white patches in the back of the throat
Swollen lymph glands in the back of the neck, groin, and armpit
Fatigue

Once we start back to school, we'll begin registration for next year--and then spring will be upon us before we know it! Below are some of the dates that you'll want to add to your calendar for the rest of the school year!
